Bob Imai and How The Laws of Success of Ryuho Okawa Bring Happiness

Bob Imai talks to Alexander “The Engineer” Lim, host of AuthorStory by alvinwriter.com about Master Ryuho Okawa’s book, The Laws of Success: A Spiritual Guide to Turning Your Hopes Into Reality.

“If your success is not good for your soul, then achieving success doesn’t mean anything.” ~Bob Imai

Master Okawa is the spiritual leader who founded Happy Science in 1986, which is a movement which started in Japan, whose purpose is to enable people to find fulfilment and success through the principles of love, wisdom, self-reflection and progress. The movement now has some ten million members scattered throughout 160 countries, and Bob himself is a minister in Atlanta, Georgia. He came across Happy Science in 1990 while still an engineer researching on self-driving cars and experiencing some discontent in his life. He became a monk as a result of investigating into the teachings of Happy Science and has been connected with the movement since then.

The Laws of Success contains principles that both people and organizations need to achieve success. Bob notes that, in order to find true success, one has to know the meaning, purpose and mission of one’s life, as it is believed that we are spiritual beings who live several lives on this physical plane over and over again, in order to improve and nourish our souls, as this is the context in which the book exists. In this context, it is believed that we choose the kind of lives we will lead in the physical realm before we enter it, and that our mind enables us to access all the wisdom and knowledge we need to attain our success. That said, Bob notes that one does not necessarily have to believe in life after death in order to get something from The Laws of Success, as the book  also comes from the context of harnessing the power of the mind, which has been behind successes, historically.

The pillars of success that support success are originality (we have our own, individual measures for success), shared joy (success is accompanied by joy) and a sense of unique contribution (true success contributes to society), and Bob shared Thomas Edison as an example who showed examples of all of these pillars in his life. Bob notes that success isn’t an outcome or a result, but that it is a process designed to improve ourselves. Self-realization is the basis of success, with visualizing one’s goal being the first thing to do. A positive attitude is also necessary to achieving one’s goal, after which one should then act on it. Bob notes that the path isn’t easy, so making habits to support success, as well as breaking down the tasks into small, easily achievable parts.

The Laws of Success might be thirty years old, and Bob points out that the principles within enabled Happy Science to grow from the small numbers in its movement that long ago to its present size. He remarks that The Laws of Success is similar to such books related to the Law of Attraction, such as The Secret, but that there is nothing in the latter that talks about the basis of such concepts, which is a belief in the spiritual realm.

Bob also advises that people meditate - by which he means people should just take a little time each day to sit in total silence - to access the wisdom that comes from one’s mind.

Yuki Oikawa on How The Laws of Justice Can Bring Peace

Yuki Oikawa talks to Alexander “The Engineer” Lim, host of AuthorStory by alvinwriter.com about Master Ryuho Okawa’s book, The Laws of Justice: How We Can Solve World Conflicts & Bring Peace.

“World peace should come from peace within.” ~Yuki Oikawa

Master Ryuho Okawa is a best selling author who writes on various topics, including lifestyle, spiritual and political issues, and is the founder of Happy Science, which is a spiritual movement, based on Buddhist principles but which also includes other religious principles, that was founded thirty years ago, in Japan. The subject of The Laws of Justice is politics, but one which has a uniquely spiritual viewpoint, and Happy Science itself also runs schools in Japan and has recently created a political party, the Happiness Realization Party, likewise also in Japan.

Yuki himself used to work in Merrill Lynch in New York, then joined a financial company in London, both in the capacity of a financial consultant, and it was then that he, as a Protestant, found Master Okawa’s books, became intrigued with the teachings and then joined Happy Science itself. He is presently the international director for the Happiness Realization Party. Although raised as a Christian, he became aware of various other spiritual views.

The Laws of Justice takes note of all the conflicts that are presently ongoing in the world, and Master Okawa wrote it with the thought of getting back to the starting point of what justice is, which should come from God’s will. Although the book covers politics, it is directed more towards ordinary people so they could understand politics from a spiritual context. Yuki points out, as an example, that Christians don’t have enough knowledge about Islam to understand it, and vice versa, that solving the problem of conflict between the two religions requires one to open one’s mind, and that justice is essentially an awareness of what is right and what is wrong from the point of view of God’s will. That said, the book doesn’t specifically state any particular laws of justice but is more of a way for a reader to discover the laws of justice on one’s own, through meditation and similar spiritual practices, as Master Okawa believes that, by finding the answers on one’s own - and Yuki admits that finding such answers isn’t easy - one can achieve peace and, from there, help humanity progress towards international harmony.

Yuki then ventured that there may be no such thing as absolute right or wrong, but that we need to seek better answers to better divine God’s will. He also noted that the human mind is not perfect and is full of negative thoughts, and that we human beings have the tremendous potential hidden within our minds and the ability to develop this, which is where mediation can come into play. He then ventured a bit into the present issues around Asia and the United States, and where the American election of November 8, 2016 is concerned, he ventured that Donald Trump would be a better American president where Asia is concerned, as Hillary Clinton would maintain the status quo, which would be detrimental to Asia particularly where China is concerned, and Japan is presently concerned with North Korea and extremist groups in Asia. He also favors Trump to create a new relationship with Putin, particularly where Japan’s imminent signing of a peace treaty with Russia is concerned, as Putin seems to regard Japan in a friendly light.

To anyone who desires justice, particularly when it comes to redressing a wrong suffered, Yuki would say that God is still alive, and that God loves that person, to remind one of god’s existence.

Mia Tomikawa on Living a Joy-Filled, Inspired Life as Taught by Master Ryuho Okawa

Mia Tomikawa, speaking for Master Ryuho Okawa of Happy Science, talks to Alexander “The Engineer” Lim, host of AuthorStory by alvinwriter.com about her book, Invitation to Happiness: 7 Inspirations from Your Inner Angel.

“The path to happiness starts with wanting to be happier.” ~Mia Tomikawa

Happy Science is a global organization established in 1986 by Ryuho Okawa, and is a spiritual movement dedicated to bringing happiness to people all throughout the world. Mia herself became involved with Happy Science when she lived in the United States, and in addition to being a member, she also presently works with the publishing division of Happy Science, translating Master Okawa’s works from Japanese to English.

Mia noted that there are a lot of people who are unhappy today who want to be happy, but have no idea how to achieve that state. The book, Invitation to Happiness: 7 Inspirations from Your Inner Angel, is a practical guidebook intended to provide a starting point to achieving happiness, and to act as a gateway to spreading happiness throughout the world.

The book is intended to be read in hard copy form, and to this end, the design was made the way it was, and while it is targeted primarily to women, men can likewise appreciate the design and pick up things within that will help them.

Although the book is intended to be read in progression, from the first chapter to the last, Mia remarks that a reader can go straight to the chapter where he or she is presently having an issue with and then work from there, and explains that the downloadable meditative music, found on the website, is intended to help the reader in doing the various exercises found within the book.

Mia explains that the “Inner Angel” mentioned in the book is a spiritual being that supports and guides people, with the Christian equivalent being “guardian angel.” Mia notes that hardships and failures, which are things that the ordinary person wants to avoid out of a desire for convenience and ease (and because these aren’t experienced in the spiritual world) are actually necessary for people’s growth, giving, as an analogy, the aches and pains one would experience if one works out at the gym, for the pains experienced during a gym workout enable one to build his or her muscles. Mia notes that grudges and resentment spring from our not being able to understand why other people do the things they do, and that compassion and tolerance spring from seeing things from the other person’s point of view. Invitation to Happiness includes an exercise that would help out with this issue.

Mia remarks that, before we are born, we create our own goals (as spirits), and that remembering what these goals are, and then working towards these, bring joy to us and help us achieve a connection with our ideal self, our so-called True Self. The True Self is the part of a human being which is brilliant like a diamond, with the equivalent Christian concept being one’s Divine Nature, while the False Self is the part of a human being that opposes the True Self, and it is this False Self that harbors negative emotions such as jealousy and grudges. Mia remarks that, for people who don’t even know where to start to discover their True Self, they should begin by believing that one’s True Self exists, and from there, finding out what one’s strengths are and then build on these.

Mia hopes the book will enable its readers to discover their True Self, why they are living on the Earth, and what their strengths are and then sharing the joy they discover. To the curious, Mia says she would explain that the book is a guidebook and a tool whose contents its readers need to practice in order to develop themselves spiritually, and Mia invites everyone to just try the book out for them to see what it really is to be happy.
